Shirley Aday
is a 'woman of the west', having lived most of her life in Colorado,
Wyoming, and her native Utah. Surrounded always by the rugged and beautiful Rocky Mountains with their deep canyons
and lofty peaks, high mountain meadows, and crystal brooks filled with native fish. She has drawn much of her inspiration from
the imposing beauty of Western America. She now makes her home in Utah's red rock country, with soaring cliffs and slick
rock trails. She lives and paints within a days journey of five national parks, always immersed in the endless variety of color, form, and
light that delights her painterly eye and buoys her artistic spirit. She is an artist of all media and all manner of subjects. She takes special
pleasure in composing and rendering the detail in a lace scarf and draws satisfaction from the tedium of perfecting it. Navajo
folklore and custom are often reflected in the design and pattern in her paintings. The native wildlife of the region can often be found
