Carolyn has just returned from Mexico where she was restoring a
painting at the Revolutionary Museum at the University of Sonora.
The painting by Narchoit, the 19th century French adventurer and artist, is an important
artifact depicting the history of the state of Sonora. Carolyn is one of
a very few Americans that have the necessary government authorization to work on
the historical relics of the Mexican people. She will be returning this fall to work on the
Narchoit restoration.
Her painting, "Sarah", has been awarded the cover of a book, currently in press,
written by Leo Sandoval, the curator for the Regional Museum at the University of Sonora.
In the late 1940's, Mr. Sandoval was one of the first people to reach the Seri Indian tribe
in the remote Sierra Madre Mountains. He worked with these people for many years as a teacher
and was befriended by Sarah, a matriarch of the tribe. The book is scheduled for release this
Christmas and the painting will become part of the permanent collection of the museum.
